Google Images Update : Search and View Options Removed

Its been two months into year 2018 and google already rolled out many updates in their different services. All of these updates by google into their service aims to provide a better user experience and make google more reliable. Google images is the largest image search engine and also one of the biggest services offered by google. Latest update into google images is going to bring quality results for most of the users and content publishers.

Latest update to google images has removed the “View images” feature which allows you to access and image directly without going to publisher website. This feature has been very convenient for its users, as they can search for huge variety of images.

What’s New in Google Images Update ?

With the new update, users can now only see view images through visit button which will redirect them to the website having that particular image. This means, user have to explore the webpage first to get images. This update seems like a normal update but”View Image” was one of the most used buttons on google image search result page. Image search has also been disabled. Users will still be able to do reverse image search on website to look for images sources.

This update seems suddenly rolled out but it was bounded to happen. Getty Images filed a complaint against Google which made them release this update to google image search. The accusation filed by Getty Images was that Google is promoting image piracy by giving direct accessto users by clicking on “View Image” button. This lead Google to establish a partnership with Getty and update their Google Images in order to adopt the changes.

What Does This Update Means ?

With the removal of “View Image” button, users now must search for image, go to the webpage from where it came from and then save it from the webpage from where it came. This update will leave plenty of users dissatisfied but this is the way to remove rampant image privacy across the internet. There were enumerous cases of images being used without permission of the owner and it caused many troubles.

Instead of finding most relevant images only this update will also help users to get information in context of that image. We tried it ourselves and see that if we are able to access images through that website or not. This is what we got :

While searching for sandwich image, I got this image and when I clicked on “Visit” button, this took me to the web page from where this image was coming. That page gave me Italian Sub Sandwich recipe which was delicious and healthy. This feature may be accurate of majority of sites but acn also be false on some sites. Some websites can also be harmful to your computer. This update needs a lot of work to be done over it.
